Justin Sobey is an associate in the law firm of Schmoyer Reinhard LLP. Mr. Sobey's practice focuses on the representation of employers in all aspects of employment litigation in state and federal court. Mr. Sobey also counsels and advises employers regarding compliance with labor and employment laws, as well as on workplace policy issues. Mr. Sobey is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
Prior to joining Schmoyer Reinhard LLP, Mr. Sobey was an associate in the San Antonio labor and employment section of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP. Mr. Sobey was a judicial law clerk from 2005 through 2006 for the Honorable Xavier Rodriguez of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, San Antonio Division. From 2002 through 2005 Mr. Sobey was an associate at Baker Botts LLP in Houston.
Mr. Sobey received his B.A. cum laude in general arts in 1999 from Villanova University and his J.D. magna cum laude in 2002 from the Baylor University School of Law, where he was the executive editor of the Baylor University Law Review.
He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Mr. Sobey is a member of the San Antonio Bar Association. He currently serves on the Executive Board of Boysville, Inc. as the Treasurer. In addition, Mr. Sobey was a member of Class XXXV of Leadership San Antonio, which is sponsored by the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Sobey was named in Scene in SA Monthly magazine in 2009 and 2010 as one of San Antonio's best labor and employment lawyers as well as a rising star from 2009 to 2011. In 2009 and 2011, Mr. Sobey was named by his peers as a Thomson Reuters Texas "Rising Star," a designation given to 2.5 percent of "the best up-and-coming attorneys in the state." |
